They met in the spring of 2021 at a dinner neither of them wanted to attend. Olivia had been seated next to the only other guest who thought the host’s new sourdough was overrated, and by the cheese course they had agreed on a great many other things, including that the host should never find out.
David proposed on an unremarkable Tuesday in the kitchen of their apartment on West 11th Street, because he had decided a grand gesture would give the game away. Olivia said yes before he had finished the sentence, then asked him to start again so she could hear the whole thing.
Six years, one dog, and a frankly heroic number of dinner parties later, they would like you to join them for the best one yet.
The celebrations
Thursday 25 November · 3 pm onwards
Mehta Haveli, Gangaur Ghat
Henna artists from Jaipur on the upper terrace, ghazals from the one below, and grandmother’s saffron kulfi somewhere in between. Bring hands you can spare for two hours.
DressGarden florals in greens and yellows. Flat shoes for the courtyard stone.
Thursday 25 November · 8 pm
Chandni Bagh, Fateh Sagar Road
Two families, one stage, several rehearsed dance numbers and at least one that was not. Dinner is served on the lawns alongside the performances.
DressJewel tones and sequins. Shoes you can dance in until the band gives up.
Friday 26 November · 10 am
Mehta Haveli, Gangaur Ghat
Turmeric, marigolds and the courtyard tank. Breakfast comes first, on the roof; the turmeric follows shortly after and does not discriminate between bride, groom and bystander.
DressYellows and whites. Nothing you would mind being turmeric-coloured by noon.
Saturday 27 November · 5 pm
Jal Niwas Courtyard, Lake Pichola
The baraat gathers at the ghat at five and crosses to the courtyard by boat. Pheras at sunset beneath the neem tree, then dinner under a few hundred lamps and a great many marigolds.
DressFormal Indian or evening wear. Rose, gold and jade are warmly encouraged; please leave red to the bride.
Sunday 28 November · 7:30 pm
Chandra Mahal Palace, Lake Pichola
Cocktails on the water terrace, dinner in the durbar hall, and dancing until the palace politely asks us to stop.
DressBlack tie or bandhgala. The terrace is on the water; bring a shawl.

A note for each celebration is in the attire section below. The short version: colour is encouraged, comfort is compulsory, and red belongs to the bride.
If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, absolutely. If it was addressed to you alone, we have kept the guest list to people we know and love.
Most of it is. Every meal has a full vegetarian spread and Jain dishes on request. Tell us about allergies in the reply form.
The airport is around forty minutes from the old city. A prepaid taxi from the rank is the easiest way in.
Your being there is the gift. If you would like to mark the day, there will be a blessing box at the wedding.
What to wear
Silk, colour and sensible shoes. The celebrations move between courtyards, lawns and ghats, and old marble is unforgiving to heels. Beyond that, wear what makes you happiest. These are the colours the celebrations are dressed in, should you want to match them.
