How it began

Our story

They met in the spring of 2021 at a dinner neither of them wanted to attend. Olivia had been seated next to the only other guest who thought the host’s new sourdough was overrated, and by the cheese course they had agreed on a great many other things, including that the host should never find out.

David proposed on an unremarkable Tuesday in the kitchen of their apartment on West 11th Street, because he had decided a grand gesture would give the game away. Olivia said yes before he had finished the sentence, then asked him to start again so she could hear the whole thing.

Six years, one dog, and a frankly heroic number of dinner parties later, they would like you to join them for the best one yet.

Small rooms, an excellent bar, a doorman who remembers names.

Clean, quiet, sensible, one stop from either venue.

Questions

May we bring the children?

We love them, and this is a late night in a room with a great deal of glass. Grown-ups only, please.

Is my invitation for one or two?

The envelope names everyone it was meant for. If it says your name and a guest, bring whoever you like.

Where do I park?

Don’t, if you can help it. Both venues are on the train line, and the reception venue has a valet from six.

What about gifts?

Your presence is the gift. If you feel strongly, a contribution to the honeymoon fund is on the reply card.

What will the weather do?

Either golden or vindictive, with nothing in between. Everything is indoors. Bring a coat you can leave with the coat check.

What to wear

Attire

Black tie, lights down. Dinner jackets and long dresses, or whatever you would wear to a supper club in nineteen twenty-eight if you were trying to impress someone. Deep colours, metals, velvet. We ask only that you leave white to the bride and neon to the signs.
